I feel 80.

I had my doctor appointment on Tuesday and the specialist has decided to have me monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day for a week straight. He also put me on the south beach diet. Really?!?! Is this necessary!?!? I feel like an old person setting my phone alarm for when I need to check my sugar throughout the day. Unbelievable. I eat so healthy, exercise and take such good care of myself on a regular basis and now that I'm pregnant... yeah, there's a blood sugar monitor in my purse.....that just happened.

Now that my rant is over I can say that whatever I need to do to ensure this little girl comes out perfect is do-able. It's not the end of the world, and I'm thankful that it's not something worse. Plus all my numbers have been coming back normal. The south beach diet is rather confusing. Writing down everything I eat then determining which section it should be counted in... seems like a time consuming diet. I have learned a few things from it though. Carbs are actually a bigger concern for diabetics than actual sugar. Interesting. I love carbs :(

It's been a crazy busy week with work and company coming in town! I'm so excited! Jo gets in tonight, then Peggy, Dana, and Marissa tomorrow night! Then some awesome friends arrive saturday morning :) Should be a fun filled weekend, and so far the weather is looking amazing for the next few days. I was going to where a longer dress for the shower but it's looking too warm, might wear the same one I wore to my work shower instead. A sweaty pregnant woman is never attractive lol. Speaking of not attractive I officially have 4 stretch marks. I thought it was only three but Nick noticed a 4th this evening. Thanks babe lol.

Nick just got back from Louisville yesterday, poor guy has a cold. He takes on so much with work, he makes me worry! Hopefully things will simmer down for him the next few weeks so his head doesn't implode. He did get to take a few minutes and put together the bouncy seat we got from The Travis family!! It's so cute, and looks very comfy :)

8 more weeks.... wow it's creeping!! We are so blessed to have such great family and friends to share our excitement with.

Week 31 was a busy one!

31 WEEKS ALREADY!!

Wow where to beginning! We had a small mishap Thursday at the doctor’s office (this will be the ultra shortened version of the story). My test results for the sugar test came back and I have gestational diabetes. The good part is we later learned (after the panic and tears all day) that my numbers are very borderline, THANK GOODNESS! Since then I've cut out ALL sweets, I read every label to check sugar content, no juice, minimal fruit, and watching carb intake. I did have a mini cupcake at my b-day dinner Saturday night... and then another mini cupcake at my work shower Sunday. I have an appointment with the specialist on Tuesday to go over everything with me. I'm assuming he will do an ultrasound to check her size and make sure everything is ok. I should be able to control this with diet, not that I ate bad before but I just have to be more careful in the sugar department. There are worse things, it's only 9 more weeks :) I was happy about everything else said at my appointment Thursday. She looks good and heartbeat is strong. I have gained 14 pounds so far and I'm pretty happy with that. I'm hoping to gain another 10 before my due date!! Still exercising a little bit. 2x a week, 3 if I'm lucky! But taking Winston for long walks has become a fun thing to do, walking is just a lot easier than a whole workout lol.

We went to the 2nd 4D ultrasound Friday and she was head down facing my back. Needless to say we saw her hinny, her kidneys, and the back of her head lol. The tech tried to get her to move for 25 minutes and had no luck, but she was able to tell that our little girl is not as hairy as the heartburn would lead us to believe. She said she doesn't seem to have much hair at all... so that's a myth. We tried, but I guess we will just have to wait till she gets here to see her :)

Nick and I have been stressing a little about our upcoming visitors. We are so very excited to have everyone in town but with the recent house hiccups we feel behind. There are definitely a few things we wanted to get done that just aren't going to happen in time lol. So busy for both of us right now. Nick has been doing a lot of traveling this month, and season has kept us very busy at work (which is great). We are excited for a fun filled weekend with family and friends, that's for sure!

We went to dinner Saturday night for my b-day! Nick put a little shindig together for me and we had a blast. My favorite pizza joint, some fam and friends, fun gifts, I was a happy camper. Even got to catch the NBA dunk contest!!

Mom threw me a work baby shower today at Bru's Room, which was awesome!! I loved that we all got to hang out for a few hours, the weather was gorgeous and my girls spoiled me rotten!! They are amazing, I'm so lucky to have them in my life... really couldn't ask for more :) I came home and unloaded all their awesome gifts and found that Nat Tat already couldn't use an extra closet lol.

I have no idea where we are going to put all her goodies, gadgets and gear!! Nick and I need to get some serious organizational skills with a quickness. Her nursery is starting to look cute though. We haven't hung anything on the walls yet, but stocking the closet full of baby stuff is very exciting.

Well no more ice cream, so a glass a milk and a zantac will do :) I will post again after my appointment this week. Thanks for reading!!

Go Badgers!

It's Saturday! I'm so proud of myself for making two posts in one week! Well the glucose test is out of the way. I'm very excited to be done with all that, and hopefully my results come back perfect! I have a check up on Thursday this week. Curious to see how much weight I've gained, and maybe they will be able to tell how big the baby is this time. That would be pretty cool. My pampers App says she is about 3 lbs and 11 inches from head to hinny :)

We are going back for our second 4-D this coming Friday. Hopefully the tech will get some better shots. I think we also get a video as well this time. That way we can show grandparents and friends.

Had a pretty great week aside from the glucose fiasco. I got to go to the chiropractor again which helped with my sciatic. Felt much better after seeing him, I have another appointment next month. Work was busy, a client got us a few gifts, and a co-worker got me the cutest little John Deere outfit. For valentine's day nick picked out a ton of cute stuff for our little girl. He has very good taste! Even bought her a tutu :) We are going to head up to Pottery Barn Kids this afternoon (after the Badger game of course). The blackout curtains we like are on sale, I love that store.

This week coming up should be busy. Nick is away for work Sunday afternoon till Tuesday night. Monday we have a dude coming to clean up a plumbing issue and finish up a few more things we need done. We finally were able to fix the screen enclosure last week. It looks great, and its so nice to have a bug free patio. All that's left is our dry wall repairs from a leak, and then we'll be ready for baby shower visitors :) I might have to skip my exercise class this week, because Winston can't be alone from 8-8. But we'll see, maybe I'll do my own workout here instead.

I went dress shopping today and might have found a winner. Clothes shopping with a belly is so fun! I might go again tomorrow and get something for my work shower too. A lot of people lately have asked if I feel "uncomfortable" or "huge", most days I just feel happy and excited and the proud owner of a cute belly lol. With about 68 days left, the most common thought in my head is usually "I can't believe we are going to have a baby girl so soon!!".

Ok what a game!! Badgers just blew up the Buckeyes!! Wooohooo! Off to run errands with the hubby :)

"Hey Vanesser, your face is looking a little plump".

Is it just old people in general, or strictly old New Yorker woman?? I love how my clients just say whatever they think with no regard as to how it might come out of their mouths lol. If anything it's good entertainment. For the record my face does NOT look plump... I'll cut Arlene Goldstein.

What........... an annoying mess this Glucose situation has become. I will address this briefly so I don't get all fired up again before bed. Apparently Quest Diagnostics wants to make my life hell. The woman who handled my misery last wednesday wasn't trained on how to administer the test properly and now I have to sit through ANOTHER 3 HOURS!! When questioning the nurse if this was really necessary considering i have no signs or symptoms of gestational diabetes, she replied ::long pause:: "YES!". Needless to say I will be back in that office Friday.

Next Topic. Nat Tat really enjoys sitting directly on my sciatic nerve. This causes some pain, and the unwarned loss of leg function while walking. But other than leg cramps, heartburn, and the inability to remove my self from the couch alone, we are doing just dandy! I really do feel pretty good, I didn't notice to many changes when I entered the 3rd tri a few weeks ago. It's very exciting that I'm at the 30 week mark this week. It's starting to creep up on us :)

I feel lately that my blogs have been a bit more of a bitch session then they used to be... not that this will change much the rest of my pregnancy, i just wanted it noted that I'm aware.

There is some serious acrobatics going on in my belly. It's unbelievable!! She is so active, I absolutely love every minute of it. We went to the 4-D ultrasound last friday and technology really is mind blowing!! I can't describe how cool it was to see her that clearly. The tech said the placenta was in the way the whole time, so I cant imagine what a clear shot looks like. We did get a few really neat pics, and yes she is still a girl lol. They are having us come back on the 18th to see if they can get a better view. It was pretty amazing :)

Both baby showers are approaching, I can't wait!! So excited for all the out of town guests we will be getting, absolutely can't wait to see everyone. I went to the prenatal workout class again this week. I really like going. It's not as hardcore of a workout as I was used to pre-pregnancy, but it's a lot of stretching, some weights, and squats. All very important for the adventure of delivering a child. I'm definitely still the youngest one in class by a long shot, so it makes me a little quieter than usual. Many of them are there strictly for the social chit chat, but most of them are stay at home moms who rightfully crave grown up interaction. Of the 8 girls in class 7 of them are already signed up for epidurals (I'm the 8th). Then they read me statistics stating that only 6-10% of women opt to have NO pain meds, and 67% of women choose to get an epidural... this is making me want to vomit. I'm  hoping to get some more encouragement in the birthing classes next month.

We have also been receiving all kinds of fun registry gifts in the mail the last week! It's like Christmas everyday!! The nursery is filling up rapidly, so awesome!! It's bed time, I'll try to update again this week. As we count down these last 10 weeks I want to be sure I'm updating as much as possible :)

11 weeks to go!

So I'm sitting in my private room at quest diagnostics lol. Awaiting my second blood draw of this 3 hour glucose test. Very riveting stuff. I'm slightly woozy, hungry, and really thirsty...fun times. Watching a baby story on TLC with some crazy woman who is delivering in a blow pool in her living room. Did I mention her three other children are watching? Ages 10, 8, and 6. Why. Where do I find the remote in this place?

Definitely feeling much better, coughing has simmered down, and I am able to sleep at night. My cousin Lindsay had her baby last Friday. Very exciting, she is so cute. All these girls having babies around me makes me even more anxious :)

Nick and I went to babies r us Sunday and hopefully finished up our registry. We picked out a few cute things for the nursery as well. I spent lots of time sitting in the rocking chairs at the back of the store. When I walk around a lot sometimes I tend to get cramps. So the chairs were my favorite part of the Store.

Tuesday I went to a prenatal workout class with one of my moms best friends Barb. She was my baton teacher when I was 6 and now she is my prenatal workout teacher. Pretty awesome :) It was fun, lots of stretching. Didn't really break much of a sweat, but we did lots of squats, my legs are a bit tight today. I signed up for 8 more classes, the only day i can go with my work schedule is Tuesdays, so hopefully I have 8 more Tuesday's left lol. I'm going to try and do my old workout tomorrow. Just for fun! I might have to modify some of it, and move a lot slower, but I really miss excersizing. I miss sweating, I miss my bike, it's lonely and dusty in the garage. But I love love my belly! It's my favorite, and makes up for everything else :)

I'm very excited for Fridays 4d ultrasound. I'll be sure to post the photos right away. I cant wait to see her, it's going to be awesome! We have been getting baby stuff in the mail this week, it's so fun. Her closest is going to be full before the shower lol.

Hopefully this test comes back perfect. Keeping my fingers crossed :)
